Welcome to our FAQ page. We're a family-run ceramics workshop with artisan potters based in Marrakech and Safi, Morocco, and we ship our handmade pottery to customers around the world. Below you'll find answers to the questions we hear most often — about our craftsmanship, how to care for your pieces, and how shipping and ordering works.
About Our Brand & Craftsmanship
Where are your ceramics made?
Every piece we sell is handmade in Morocco, produced in small family workshops in Marrakech and Safi. Safi is often called the "Pottery Capital of Morocco" and has been a center of ceramic craftsmanship for generations, while our Marrakech artisans bring their own hand-painted and hand-carved traditions to the collection. We work directly with these workshops rather than through large factories or middlemen.
Is your pottery really handmade?
Yes. Each piece is hand-thrown on a potter's wheel, hand-carved and/or hand-painted, and fired using traditional techniques passed down within artisan families. Nothing in our collection is machine-molded or mass-produced.
Are you a family business?
Yes, we are a family-run business, and we work with family-run artisan workshops in Morocco. Supporting traditional craft and fair wages for the potters and painters who make each piece is central to how we operate.
Why does each piece look slightly different from the photos?
Because every item is shaped and decorated entirely by hand, small variations in glaze, color, and pattern are normal and expected — they're proof that a real person made your piece rather than a machine. We consider these differences part of the character of handmade pottery, not a flaw. If you order a set, we do our best to keep pieces visually consistent, but exact uniformity isn't possible (or the goal) with hand-thrown ceramics.
What's the difference between your hand-painted, hand-carved, and reactive-glaze pieces?
Hand-painted pieces feature traditional Moroccan motifs applied freehand with a brush. Hand-carved pieces have patterns cut into the clay before glazing, giving them a textured, dimensional surface. Our reactive-glaze pieces use a more contemporary studio-pottery glaze that reacts unpredictably in the kiln, so no two drip patterns are ever the same. All three are handmade using the same core techniques — they simply reflect different artisan styles within our collection.
Do you offer wholesale or bulk orders?
We're happy to discuss larger orders for boutiques, interior designers, restaurants, or events. Please reach out through our Contact page with details of what you're looking for and we'll get back to you.
Product Care & Safety
Is your pottery food safe?
Our tableware pieces — cups, mugs, bowls, and glasses — are glazed and intended for everyday serving use. That said, as with any hand-glazed ceramic from a small workshop rather than an industrial factory, we recommend against using tableware for cooking or for long-term storage of strongly acidic foods (tomato sauce, citrus, vinegar-based dishes), which is sensible practice with handmade pottery in general. Purely decorative pieces — such as ashtrays, vases, oil burners, and display tagines — are made for décor and are not intended for food or drink contact. If you have a specific safety question about an item, contact us before use and we're happy to help.
Can I put your ceramics in the dishwasher or microwave?
We recommend hand-washing all of our pieces to protect the hand-painted and hand-carved detail and to help the glaze last as long as possible. Because pieces are hand-finished rather than industrially glazed, we don't recommend the dishwasher or microwave.
How do I clean and care for my Moroccan ceramics?
Wash gently by hand with warm water and mild soap, and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive scrubbers, which can dull hand-painted detail over time. Avoid sudden temperature changes (for example, moving a piece straight from the fridge to boiling water), which can cause any ceramic to crack.
Are the mini tagines functional or just decorative?
Our mini tagines are designed for storing and serving spices, salt, herbs, or condiments, and as decorative accents for your kitchen or table. They are not intended as cooking vessels — traditional cooking tagines are made with a different, thicker clay body designed to withstand direct heat.
Will the color I receive match the photo exactly?
Very closely, but not pixel-for-pixel. Screen displays vary, and hand-applied glazes can shift subtly from batch to batch and even piece to piece within the same batch. This is a normal part of buying handmade, kiln-fired ceramics.
Shipping & Orders
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship worldwide, including to the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and across Europe (Switzerland, Denmark, and beyond). Our pieces travel from our workshops in Morocco to homes all over the world.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping times vary by destination and are covered in detail on our Shipping, Returns and Refunds page. If you need your order by a specific date, contact us before ordering and we'll let you know what's realistic.
Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?
Depending on your country's import regulations, customs duties, taxes, or fees may apply on arrival and are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local customs authority, not by us, so we're not able to predict the exact amount in advance.
How is breakable pottery packaged for shipping?
Each piece is individually wrapped and cushioned before packing, since these are fragile, handmade ceramics traveling long distances. We take extra care with breakable shapes like tagine lids and handled cups.
What happens if my order arrives damaged?
While we package every order carefully, breakage can occasionally happen in transit. If any piece arrives damaged, contact us with a photo as soon as possible and we'll make it right. Full details are on our Shipping, Returns and Refunds page.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Yes, please see our Shipping, Returns and Refunds page for our full policy and how to start a return.
Can I track my order?
Yes, you'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information once your order leaves our workshop.
Ordering & Products
Can I request a custom color or design?
For larger or wholesale orders, custom colors or designs may be possible depending on the piece. Reach out through our Contact page to discuss what you have in mind.
Do you restock sold-out items?
Because every piece is handmade in small batches, popular items can sell out. We do restock regularly, though exact timing depends on our artisan workshops' production schedule. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when new pieces arrive.
Are your ceramics an authentic Moroccan product?
Yes. Every item is made in Morocco by Moroccan artisans using traditional techniques — we are not a dropshipper and we don't sell mass-produced imitations. Buying from us directly supports the artisan families who make each piece.
I still have a question — how do I reach you?
We're happy to help. Visit our Contact page and send us a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

This page explains how shipping, returns, and refunds work when you order from ABAC LLC, doing business as "Mouassine Ceramic." Every piece is handmade in our workshops in Marrakech and Safi, Morocco, and shipped directly from Morocco to customers around the world.
Shipping
Carrier
We ship all international orders via Aramex, a trusted global courier with strong coverage across the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and beyond.
Estimated Delivery Times
- United States: 5–6 business days
- Europe: 8–10 business days
- All other countries: 7–10 business days
These are estimated transit times once your order has shipped, starting from when Aramex collects the package from our workshop. Delivery times can occasionally be affected by customs processing, local courier delays, holidays, or events outside our control.
Free Shipping
Orders of $150 USD or more ship free, worldwide. Orders under $150 will show the applicable shipping cost at checkout before you pay.
Order Tracking
Once your order ships, you'll receive a confirmation email with an Aramex tracking number so you can follow your package's journey from Morocco to your door.
Customs Duties & Import Taxes
Because your order ships internationally from Morocco, your country's customs authority may apply import duties, taxes, or handling fees on arrival. These charges are set by your local government, not by us, and are the responsibility of the customer. We are not able to predict the exact amount in advance — if you'd like an estimate, check with your local customs office before ordering.
Packaging
Each piece is fragile, hand-thrown ceramic, so we individually wrap and cushion every item before packing your order, taking extra care with shapes like tagine lids, handled cups, and lidded jars.
Custom & Personalized Orders
We're happy to accept custom orders — including custom colors, designs, or sizes for select pieces. Because a customized item is made specifically for you and can't be resold, custom and personalized orders are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange, except in the case of damage or defect (see below). If you're interested in a custom piece, reach out through our Contact page to discuss details before ordering.
Returns, Exchanges & Refunds
Return & Exchange Window
For all standard (non-customized) products, we accept returns and exchanges within 14 days of your purchase date. To be eligible, the item must be unused, undamaged, and in its original condition (ideally in its original packaging). Because every piece is handmade with natural variation in glaze, color, and pattern, please note that slight differences from the product photo are expected and are not grounds for return — but if you're simply not happy with a piece, you're welcome to return or exchange it within the 14-day window as long as it meets the conditions above. Custom and personalized orders are excluded from this policy and are final sale (see "Custom & Personalized Orders" above).
To start a return or exchange, contact us through our Contact page with your order number and the reason for your return, and we'll walk you through the next steps.
Damaged or Defective Items
If your order arrives broken, damaged in transit, or defective — including custom orders — we will make it right. Please contact us within 7 days of delivery through our Contact page with:
- Your order number
- Clear photos of the damaged or defective item(s) and the packaging they arrived in
In most cases you won't need to ship the broken piece back to us — photo evidence is enough for us to process a replacement or refund.
Wrong Item Received
If we made a mistake and sent you the wrong item, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll cover return shipping and send the correct item at no extra cost to you.
Return Shipping Costs
For standard returns and exchanges (item eligible but not damaged or our error), the customer is responsible for return shipping costs. Given the fragility of our products, please pack items carefully for the return trip. For damaged, defective, or incorrect items, we cover return shipping as noted above.
Refund Processing
Once your return is received and inspected, approved refunds are issued to your original payment method (Shopify Payments or PayPal). Exchanges are shipped out once the returned item is received and confirmed to be in its original condition. Please allow your bank or PayPal a few business days to reflect the refund on your statement after we process it.
Questions?
If you have any questions about a shipment, a return, a custom order, or anything else, reach out through our Contact page — we're a small family business and we read every message ourselves.

Yes — we work with boutiques, interior designers, restaurants, hotels, and gift shops around the world. If you'd like to carry Mouassine Ceramic (ABAC LLC), here's how our wholesale program works.
Who We Work With
We partner with independent retailers, hospitality businesses, interior designers, and gift shops looking for authentic, handmade Moroccan ceramics — tagines, bowls, mugs, and decorative pieces made by artisan families in Marrakech and Safi.
Wholesale Pricing
We use standard keystone wholesale pricing: 50% off retail price. This gives you the full margin expected in boutique and gift retail when you sell at our listed retail price, while keeping pricing simple and transparent across our catalog.
Minimum Orders
- Opening order minimum: $300
- Reorder minimum: $200
Minimums can be mixed across any products in our catalog — no need to order a single design in bulk.
Payment Terms
A 50% deposit is required to confirm a wholesale order, with the remaining balance due before shipment. We accept payment via Shopify Payments or PayPal, the same secure methods used on our retail store. Established wholesale accounts with a consistent order history may be eligible for net payment terms — ask us about this once you've placed a few orders.
Production & Lead Times
Because every piece is handmade in small batches by artisan families in Marrakech and Safi, wholesale orders typically take 3–5 weeks to produce and ship, depending on order size and the pieces selected. We'll always confirm an estimated timeline before you commit to an order.
Custom & Private Label
For larger wholesale accounts, we can discuss custom colors, exclusive designs, or private-label packaging. Reach out with what you have in mind and we'll let you know what's possible.
How to Apply
To start a wholesale account, contact us through our Contact page with:
- Your business name and website or social media
- Your business type (boutique, hospitality, design studio, etc.)
- Your resale certificate or business registration, if applicable in your region
- An idea of what you're interested in ordering
We typically respond within a few business days. We're a small, family-run business working directly with artisan workshops in Morocco, so every wholesale relationship is handled personally — not through a call center.
